What is DSH?

The DSH (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang) is a German language proficiency exam required for non-native speakers applying to German universities. It assesses whether students have the academic German skills necessary to study at a university level.

The exam consists of five parts:

1. Listening Comprehension (Prüfungsteil Hörverständnis)
2. Reading Comprehension (Prüfungsteil Leseverständnis)
3. Academic Language Structures (Prüfungsteil Wissenschaftssprachliche Strukturen)
4. Writing (Prüfungsteil Textproduktion)
5. Oral Examination (Prüfungsteil mündliche Prüfung)

A score of DSH-2 or DSH-3 is usually required for university admission in Germany.
